Fox River Grove Mural Project

Led by the Fox River Art Club
Proposed Date: Spring – Fall 2026

We propose to transform blank walls and public spaces in Fox River Grove into art that reflects the community’s culture, history, and natural surroundings.

The initial mural, “Fox River Reverie,” is proposed for the Opatrny lot wall (north side of Dr. Woods). The design depicts a ripple on a reflection of clouds, inspired by the river that gives our town its name, and will include a few local references.

Here’s a detailed draft of what it may look like. The mural will simplify certain aspects for clarity and scale, but the imagery and color palette will remain the same.

We will need to wait for approval once the wall demolition is complete. After that, we hope to present the design to the Village Board for approval in the spring. The landlord has already provided written approval.

The mural will include community participation by inviting locals to add their handprints in a blue gradient section, symbolizing unity and connection through the river.

Looking ahead, we hope to collaborate on future murals with local businesses, organizations, schools, and residents.

Below is an example of a patch design created for the Fox River Art Club to be used in fundraising campaigns. I have also been in touch with the Fox River Grove Recreation Council to discuss potential future collaborations.

Another idea for fundraising is a Fox River Grove / Midwest Series Calendar, featuring original artwork inspired by regional culture and landscapes.
